Abigail Carrington from the The devil’s love by Julia London

Day 7-Best sequel

Hello everyone, today i’m going to talk about A week to be wicked by Tessa Dare, the best sequel i read this year (in my oppinion) from the Spindle Cove series.

A Week to Be Wicked.jpg

,,For all the girls who walk and read at the same time”

Zooey-Deschanel-Glasses-New-GirlMinerva Highwood is a twenty-one year old bluestocking living in Spindle Cove who occupies her time with the study of rocks. Her mother is sure she will never get married but  takes comfort in the ideea that Diana, her beautiful oldest daughter will find a great husband.Minerva,of course, has other things to worry about, and that is how will she manage to attend the Royal Geological Society of Scotland’s annual meeting in Edinburgh where she intends to present her discovery. She will receive 500 guineas if she wins,a fact that she is very sure of.

Here enters our hero.

15dfb1ada92acc432c3c920b060babab--sexy-men-hot-menColin Sandhurst, Viscount Payne is stuck in Spindle Cove  because he is broke and will only receive his inheritance on his next birthday. The other way to receive it is to marry and because of this, Minerva is afraid he will set his sights on her sister,Diana. So one night she goes to his house and offers him a deal:if he will escort her to Edinburgh she will give him the 500 guineas that she expects to receive for her presentation.

Favourite quotes from the book:

“Oh no. Oh God. I couldn’t possibly be so stupid.”

“Don’t limit yourself. You can be anything you wish.”

“This is ideal, you’ll see. We do everything backward. It’s just how we are. We began with an elopement. After that, we made love. Next, we’ll progress to courting. When we’re old and silver-haired, perhaps we’ll finally get around to flirtation. We’ll make fond eyes at each other over our mugs of gruel. We’ll be the envy of couples half our age.”

“Mr. Sand, do you think it’s possible to fall in love in the space of a single day?”

He smiled. “I wouldn’t know. I only fall in love at night. Never lasts beyond breakfast, though.”

Hope you have a wonderful day,

Eveline

Now let’s move on to an even more interesting subject and that is fictional boyfriends.

I have many fictional boyfriends but as the years passed only one stayed at the top of the list and that is Derek Craven from Dreaming of you by Lisa Kleypas.

Day 4-Biggest surprise

Hello everyone, today i’m going to talk about the biggest surprise i had while reading a book in 2017.

The book that had me quite surprised is Romancing Mr.Bridgerton by Julia Quinn.

mister-2.jpg

In the previous three books of the series we read about Lady Whistledon and her famous gossip column. In this book we finally learn her identity.I won’t say who it is because i don’t want to spoil it for those of you that have not read the book.I must admit i was quite surprised by the reveal since i was debating between two characters and it was neither of them.

This is the fourth book in the Bridgertons series, not my favourite,i enjoyed The Viscount who loved me more, but i still liked it.

See you again tomorrow for day 5 of december book challenge.

Day 3-New favourite authors

Hello everyone, today i’m going to talk about new favourite authors that i found in 2017.

I’m happy to say that i discovered two new authors that quickly became my favourite and they are Sarah Maclean and Tessa Dare.

macleanSarah is a leading advocate for the romance genre, speaking widely on its place at the nexus of gender and cultural studies. She is the author of a monthly column for the Washington Post. Her work in support of romance and the women who read it earned her a place on Jezebel.com’s Sheroes list of 2014 and led Entertainment Weekly to call her “gracefully furious.” A graduate of Smith College & Harvard University, Sarah lives in New York City with her husband and daughter.

My favourite books of her are:Nine rules to break when romancing a rake and The day of the duchess.

My favourite quotes by her are:

“Kisses should not leave you satisfied. They should leave you wanting.”
― Sarah MacLeanNine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake

“Temptation turns you. It makes you into something you
never dreamed, it presses you to give up everything you
ever loved, it calls you to sell your soul for one, fleeting
moment.”
― Sarah MacLeanOne Good Earl Deserves a Lover

20161019-RB-0246-D-600x800

A librarian by training and a booklover at heart, Tessa makes her home in Southern California, where she lives with her husband, their two children, and a trio of cosmic kitties.

My favourite books of her are: A week to be wicked and Any duchess will do.

My favourite quotes by her:

“He kissed her. Without warning, without permission. Without even deciding to do it, but simply because he couldn’t have done anything else. He needed that breath she was holding. It belonged to him, and he wanted it back.”
― Tessa DareOne Dance with a Duke

“This explains so much,” she said, clucking her tongue in mother-hen fashion. “You’re compensating for this withered appendage.”
Withered appendage? What the devil was she talking about? He shook his head, trying to clear it. Colin’s dire predictions of shriveled twigs and dried currants rattled in his skull. Wide awake now, he fought to sit up, wrestling the sheets.
“Listen, you. I don’t know what sort of liberties you’ve taken while I was insensible, or just what your spinster imagination prepared you to see. But I’ll have you know, that water was damned cold.”
She blinked at him. “I’m referring to your leg.”
“Oh.” His leg. That withered appendage”
― Tessa DareA Night to Surrender

What do you guys think?Do you like any of their books?

See you again tomorrow for day 4 of december book challenge.

Day 2-Shortest book you read

Hello everyone and welcome to day 2 of december book challenge.

Today i’m going to talk about the shortest book i read in 2017 and that is Unlocked by Courtney Milan.11430898

I went into this book not expecting too much because i didn’t believe the author could convince us of the connection and love between the hero and heroine in just 100 pages. But surprisingly i found the story and the love between the main characters more convincing than in other longer books that i read.

p039wz3xp03dmnvpThe heroine of this book,Lady Elaine Warren entered her first London season like a beaming light of happines, hope and excitement.Evan Carlton, the powerful and popular Earl of Westfeld, notices her and is immediately drawn to her but because of his immaturity and his fear of people mocking him he starts making fun of her at every ball until she becomes the joke of London society.2FC5F71900000578-3383909-image-m-67_1451918095157

Evan, seeing the terrible mistake he did and unsure of what to do decides to leave England and returns 10 years later when his father dies.

He is expected to re-enter society and finds that everyone and everything is the same as the day he left.He has changed but unfortunately the society is still the same, mean and full of prejudice, still laughing at Lady Elaine with the same jokes that he invented 10 years ago.

Evan, realizes that all the feelings he had towards Elaine haven’t changed so he decides to do what he should have done all those years ago and apologize to her.giphy

But she doesn’t accept his apology so he decides to spend more time with her,try to repair what he destroyed and the more time he spends with her the deeper in love he falls.p03dmq11

My favourite scene in this book was the one involving the red dress and this magical quote:

“Over the years, everyone
stumbles. That’s why I’ll be here for you—and you’ll be there for me. I don’t
expect perfection. I want you, and you’re a thousand times better.”dress

See you again tommorow for day 3 of december book challenge.

This is heaven

This december i wanted to do something new and challenge myself. So i decided to do a december book challenge.

allthebooksof2015This is what the challenge looks like.I know it says 2015 but i like this one more than the others,i find it more interesting.

I will really try my best to post every single day until i complete the challenge so wish me luck.Let’s begin with day one:First read of the year.

one-good-earl-deserves-a-lover-1My first read of the year was One good earl deserves a lover by Sarah Maclean.

My birthday is in January so i decided to give myself an early present and bought this book.I love Sarah Maclean, she is my favourite author,so i knew i was going to love this.

The book is about Lady Philippa Marbury(Pippa),the odd and brilliant daughter of a marquess and Cross, the tall, charming, quick-witted bookkeeper of The Fallen Angel, the most notorious gaming place in London.

Pippa is engaged to an earl, who is a kind and quiet man but his only interest appears to be his dogs. She hopes he will give her a peaceful life and she will be able to study about science and horticulture. The idea of her wedding night scares her, because she doesn’t know one thing about what she is supposed to do so she comes up with a plan. She decides to go to The Fallen Angel and ask Mr.Cross to teach her about what will happen on her wedding night and what she is supposed to do.

I won’t say anything more because i don’t want to ruin the book for those of you that have not read it yet.Just go,pick up this book, read it and i promise you,you won’t regret it.I think i’m gonna reread it too.582731

Books i plan to read

When it comes to books and choosing which one to read next i always say that first i will read all the ones that i already own and then i will go buy new ones.Guess what?

It never happens that way.

large

I can’t resist the temptation. The feeling that you get when you buy a new book and you can’t wait to go home and start reading it, or put it on your bookshelf and admire how pretty it looks is amazing.

So i decided that every month i’m going to read one new book and one that i already have. This month i read Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn and i’m almost finished with  Do you want to start a scandal by Tessa Dare.

I will post a review for each one as soon as i finish reading them.

For next month i picked these two books:

When girl meets Duke, their marriage breaks all the rules…

Since his return from war, the Duke of Ashbury’s to-do list has been short and anything but sweet: brooding, glowering, menacing London ne’er-do-wells by night. Now there’s a new item on the list. He needs an heir—which means he needs a wife. When Emma Gladstone, a vicar’s daughter turned seamstress, appears in his library wearing a wedding gown, he decides on the spot that she’ll do.

His terms are simple:
– They will be husband and wife by night only.
– No lights, no kissing.
– No questions about his battle scars.
– Last, and most importantly… Once she’s pregnant with his heir, they need never share a bed again.

But Emma is no pushover. She has a few rules of her own:
– They will have dinner together every evening.
– With conversation.
– And unlimited teasing.
– Last, and most importantly… Once she’s seen the man beneath the scars, he can’t stop her from falling in love…

A man controlled by his desires…

Infamous for his wild, sensual needs, Lazarus Huntington, Lord Caire, is searching for a savage killer in St. Giles, London’s most notorious slum. Widowed Temperance Dews knows St. Giles like the back of her hand— she’s spent a lifetime caring for its inhabitants at the foundling home her family established. Now that home is at risk.

A woman haunted by her past…

Caire makes a simple offer—in return for Temperance’s help navigating the perilous alleys of St. Giles, he will introduce her to London’s high society so that she can find a benefactor for the home. But Temperance may not be the innocent she seems, and what begins as cold calculation soon falls prey to a passion that neither can control—one that may well destroy them both.

A bargain neither could refuse.

I bought the The duchess deal last week because it sounds really interesting,it’s by Tessa Dare who is starting to be one of my favourite authors and the cover is really beautiful.

I’m a sucker for beautiful covers.

Wicked Intentions has been on my shelf for a long time and i heard great things about the Maiden Lane series so i think it’s time i give it a shot.

Please let me know in the comments if you read these books and what you thought of them.

Have a wonderful day,

Eveline

A little about me

Hello everyone,

My name is Eveline and i’m 22 years old.I read my first historical romance book at 15 i think and that’s only because i found it by accident on my mother’s bookshelf. There was this beautiful half naked man on the cover so i decided that i should find out what this book is about not expecting too much. And i was wrong.

I fell in love with it.I fell in love with the charming and amusing hero, the shy but determined heroine and their amazing love story.

Even now, seven years later,my favourite thing to do is curl up in my chair with a good historical romance book and a cup of hot chocolate.

I made this blog in hope of finding new friends who are as passionate as i am about this genre.I’m planning to post reviews, lists of favourite books and also not so favourite.

I would be very happy to meet you,so please say hi and i would love to hear what your favourite books are.

Hope you have a wonderful day,

Eveline
